Article on Greys: Argee or Disagree

Found this article on Grey's on MSN - Titled: How 'Grey's Anatomy' evolved from the show we loved, to the show we were rooting for, to the cringe-worthy mess is it today

Grey's is in need of a serious face lift— and fast. I want to hold out hope that writers will craft fresh storylines like in the sophomore season, or that Seattle Grace will rebound without Addison and Burke, the two strongest characters. But in all honesty I'm starting to feel like a mother who just doesn't know when to let go of her kid's hand on the first day of school.
I held on tight through the roller coaster that was Meredith's fake-death plot. I defended the Gizzie effect to the best of my ability, even though it was more creepy than cute.

Finally, I continue to watch Private Practice, just so that I can get my Addison-fix. But even that's lost its appeal now that Kate Walsh is playing another one of Shonda Rhimes' whiny characters.
Why it is that every strong, free-willing character that puts on a stethoscope is morphed into an emotionally unstable snot rag?

In the name of character development, we need to see evolution, that's more than fair. But what used to make this show work was the different levels of characters intertwining together. If Izzie was depressed, George was in love. When MerDer was dark and twisty, Cristina and Burke were working it out. When Alex was playing the jerk, Addison would be ready to grab a drink.

At least, that's the way it was until about midway through Season 3, and 4 is shaping up to be more of the same. If this show is going to keep its fan base, it needs to do some, if not ALL of the following:
The Chief: Needs to either fix his marriage or get off the pot. There's no need to continuously reiterate Adele's feelings towards his allocation of personal time.
MerDer: Either put them together or end it. For good. Meredith made the passionate "choose me, love me" speech, and now she's reneging. Now we're going to meet another love interest for Derek. Anyone else reminded of the triangle from the end of the first season?
Cristina: If she can't have Burke, give her someone or something else. A cold scalpel and a hard exterior are why we love her, but as we've seen with McSteamy and Bailey, those characters don't get much screen time.

George/Izzie/Callie: Someone gets fired, and I'm betting it's the new chief resident. You know, rather than letting her work herself into the position and take out some revenge when she finds out about her husband's affair. How about Denny has some sort of long-lost brother for Izzie to fall in love with instead? It's more plausible than what's going on right now.

Alex: I guess they completely dropped the Izzie/Alex storyline, because Alex visited "Jane Doe" during his break. She's coming back for more episodes, which means Dr. Karev will probably deal with more indecision and soppy heartbreak. Glad he finally wants the girl, sad it's a character we don't really care about. Ok, that's a lie — I do care about her, but only if she signs on as a full-time character.

Bailey/Sloan/Lexie: more, please!

Here's crossed fingers that tonight picks up from the first three lacklustre episodes. However, I'm not holding my breath.

Great Article!

I, too, am getting tired of both Greys and PP. This whole Izzie and George thing is going to drag on with nothing ever evolving. We know that they wont get together yet, and if they do, does it ever last? Meridith bugs me regardless...Cristina is my fav. character yet she hasnt done much this year yet, I WANT BURK BACK, I knew him leaving would be a mistake!

Private Practice is already getting annoying and unbelievable. The story could be good if it represented more real life, I dont like Addisons character, like the article said, she played a much better role on Grey's.

Im not happy so far....i will continue to watch merely b/c its addicting and i pray things get better

I have to say - I'm liking PP better at the moment.

I feel Grey's is in a slump, I'm still watching in hopes it get better.

I really hate the Izzy/George thing - it was so much better with the Izzy - Alex chemistry - much more intriguing. why did they dump that story line?

I think that's what most people are thinking at this point. I agree that it just seems like they've run out of things to do with Grey's...so they better come up with something QUICK!!!
