Well, I've been watching tons of the pilot episodes for this Fall's TV season. There are a few okay shows, and a lot of ones that you know won't be renewed!! Here are a few samplings:
Bionic Woman - I thought this one would really suck, but I was pleasantly surprised to look at the clock on the DVD player and realize the episode was nearly done! (I'm usually watching the clock and counting down to the end of it). This one might actually make a next season.
K-Ville - A drama about the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. This has a nice storyline, but I'm not sure that Canadians care. This one is hit-or-miss. If there's nothing else on I might watch it, but probably not. Would be better off as a made-for-TV movie.
Back To You - this comedy stars Kelsey Grammar and Patricia Heaton. Ryan and I watched it together and both laughed out loud. This one will probably see another season.
Cashmere Mafia - this is an updated version of Sex and the City - almost exactly! Lucy Liu stars as one-in-a-group-of-four. Women will love this one.
Big Bang Theory - this is a comedy about two geeks who live next door to a bombshell (the oldest blonde girl from 8 Simple Rules). This was cute, but I don't see it lasting too long.
Canterbury's Law - this is a lawyer show starring Juliana Marguilles. Same old law stuff. Don't see it lasting
Cavemen - this one was crap. I thought the trailers looked funny, but it's not.
Carpoolers - Please give this one a chance and watch it this fall! It's basically The Office, but set in a car. I've never heard phrases like, "the Fancy Carpoolers" and "the Geizer Carpoolers" before, and it's funny!
Sam I Am - this one hasn't been picked up in Canada, but will air on ABC this fall. It's cute - about a girl who has amnesia and is trying to piece her life back together.
Dr. 90210 - this is all about plastic surgery. I loved it.
Sunset Tan - this is basically the Hills, but set in a Tanning salon. Sort of a cross between Miami Ink and the Hills. Love it.
Journeyman - this is about a guy who goes back in time and helps to change the course of people's lives. I hated this for the first 40 minutes, but it all comes full circle by the end of the episode. That said, I don't think people will stick with the pilot that long to find out, so it will likely bomb.
Life - this one sucks. About a cop who wrongly went to jail and is now out. Total crap. They should've at least got a leading man who was good looking, and maybe it would've stood a chance.
Viva Laughlin - Mel hated this one, but I LOVE it! It's based on a british show (Viva something-or-other). This one is set in Laughlin (near Vegas), and follows the star who is opening a Casino. It includes singing and dancing as part of the show. Sort of a made-for-TV mini-musical series. Hugh Jackman makes guest appearances (I think he's a producer too). I'm iffy on whether this show will be renewed or not, but I think the old ladies (AKA: ME) will like it.
Enjoy!!

I watched some with Pam;
Thumbs up for:
Cashmere Mafia - the rich, powerful women, click of 4 who meet for lunch(very sex in the city) in NYC. Very intriguing. (Lucy Liu is back on the tube - remember her on Alley McBeal? She was awesome.)
Sunset Tan - total reality show, drama, smut - everything - you go it here. We watched a mother drop $1200 on tanning stuff because she wanted her 6 year old to be tanned for her grade school pic - total ridicioulsness - yet couldn't pull myself away....
Sam I am - Christine Applegate is adorable as a girl who wakes up from coma & cant rememer anything but realizes she was a horrible person -Barry Watson (what about Brian) plays her bf she was cheating on.
PS - Viva Laughlin - Pam loved
I think it will bomb - I dont think anyone is interested in this musical/tv show....plus Melanie Griffith looks horrendous & singing - no chance
Pretty interesting to hear about all these shows though! Good post Pam,,,this is turning out to be a pretty useful blog.
