Pan Labyrinth's

Yesterday, Phil & I went to see Pan's Labyrinth. I had read all these great reviews & it recently had some Oscar nominations. It was described as a kinda of Alice in Wonderland - 'thrilling adult childhood fable'.Adult childhood fable - yep. What they failed to mention was the violence. I was not expecting it. The first violent scene was so graphic & caught me so unexpectedly, each time after I expected violence I hid my eyes.
The movie is set in 1944 war-torn Spain & is about a lonely girl who goes with her pregnant mother to live with her new Captain Step-father in a bunker like cabin in the mountains. With all the craziness around her a fantasy world kinda emerges.
Phil wasn't thrilled to go see this movie at all, but even he liked it. I thought it was really good, but be warned, its got some violent parts.
PS - The movie is in Spanish, so its sub-titled. Take your glasses.

Good to know the about the subbtitles. I was looking forward to seeing it but that won't be an option here as the sub titles will be re-done in korean. Is it worth tracking it down on the internet?
